This weekend my wife and I attended the Tulsa State Fair. The trip to Tulsa was unremarkable. However, upon arriving in our hotel room, the PM1703m began to alarm! The display read between 11 and 13 uR/hr. The higher reading. At first I thought it may be coming from the room next door, but the measurement did not increase any further. As a matter of fact, it appeared to be coming from the walls, as I scanned them. The wallboard seemed to have some NORM in it (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material). It is common for Brick to have some NORM, but uncommon for Wall Board.
The real event occurred while we where at the Fair on Saturday afternoon. While in the Quick Trips Building (Where the Tulsa Sugar Arts display is) My wife and I walked up the stairs to the second level and where walking towards the east end of the building. We made a left turn and where looking at a vendors display when the PM1703m went off, I glanced down and noticed the measurement was 53 uR/hr. There where several people in the area, but unfortunately I was unable to identify the source. The count slowly dropped down to background (about 6 uR/hr). The source may have been behind the curtains, more than likely a person walking buy that I unfortunately did not notice.
